Where is Recital?

Recital and Dress Rehearsal will be at the McFarland Performing Arts Center located within McFarland High School. There is a separate entrance at the rear of the high school. Drive past the high school on Farwell, take a right turn onto Exchange and continue until you come to a right turn into the back parking lot.

Important note: The day of Dress Rehearsal, May 29, there will be an event at McFarland High School. This also happened last year if you were a student with us during the 2025 recital. Please plan ahead, it will likely take extra time to find parking. Or plan to bring an extra adult/guardian that can go inside with your dancer while someone else searches for parking. There are no expected parking issues on Recital days.

Update as of May 11: For Dress Rehearsal, it is recommended you drop-off or carpool to the entrance at 6204 Exchange St. From there you will have to find parking nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions

After reading through the above information, are questions still popping into your mind? More FAQ will be added over time. Here are a few common ones:

  • Yes, you can buy tickets at the door. If you are attending with a group that already has tickets we will very likely not be able to seat you near the group since it is assigned seating, but we will help you find the best possible seat(s). Please arrive early if you plan to purchase tickets at the door.

  • Yes, dress rehearsal is a mandatory event. This is an opportunity (especially for our young dancers) for students to get used to being on stage. Being in a recital dance is a team effort, if one dancer isn’t there to practice formations or dance with a partner, it affects everyone!

  • Yes, all dancers in that day’s show participate in the Finale. Immediately following the Finale are awards that can be potentially handed out to any age group.

  • No. Unfortunately snacks are not allowed in any dressing room areas or inside the theater. If you plan to give your dancer any food, it must be eaten in the lobby area outside the theater.

  • Yes and No. On dress rehearsal, yes we ask you to come back and help your dancer change. On the day of recital, no, we have staff to help monitor the dressing rooms and assist dancers with changing. We want you to enjoy the show as an audience member!

  • Yes, please have your dancer arrive with make-up done (according to the linked guide) and hair done and sprayed sufficiently. Save lipstick for last for little dancers to prevent stains if they touch their face.

  • We recommend doing as much of the make-up listed in the hair and make-up guide as possible.

    Why make-up?

It sounds funny to put little dancers in make-up, but make-up is used in productions to make dancers visible from the audience. Stage lights are very strong and wash out features. If something is very difficult to get on your dancer, just leave it be. For example, eyeliner is usually the first to go.

    Why hairspray?

We recommend getting hairspray and having bangs pinned back as much as possible. Loose hair shows up under light and distracts from the performer. We are more than happy to assist if you need help!
