MAD City Choreography Week
Dancers participating in the 2026-2027 MAD City Choreography Team are required to attend the choreography week to learn competition pieces for their upcoming season. Schedules will be sent out via email.
Last Week of Classes
This is the last week of classes in the 2025-2026 academic year at Monona Academy of Dance at both locations. The following week will include Dress Rehearsal and both Recitals. For more information on Recital, visit the page.
Picture Day

MAD City Dancer Auditions
Join us for the MAD City Dancer Auditions on May 9 at our Madison location, 2605 S Stoughton Rd! Dancers auditioning are seriously considering joining our competitions team in the 2026-2027 academic year and will be enrolled in classes at Monona Academy of Dance. Times are as follows:
-Ages 7-10: 12:30-1:15pm
-Ages 11-14: 1:15-2:15pm
-Ages 13+: 2:15-3:15pm
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your audition time starts. Audition may consist of ballet, jazz, tap, or contemporary so bring all appropriate footwear . Questions? Email mononaacademyofdance@gmail.com
MAD City Informational Meeting
Do you have a dancer interested in joining the MAD City Dancers in the 2026-2027 school year? Join us on April 18 from 12:00-1:00pm and see if being on our competition team is a good fit for your dancer! We will discuss financials, rough calendar of dates dancers will be expected to be available, a typical class schedule for a MAD City Dancer, and more! Bring any questions you might have! You are more than welcome to have your dancer attend if you would like, please decide what is most appropriate for your family.
Spring Break
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed from March 23-29 for Spring Break. Classes resume on March 30.
NYCDA
All MAD City Dancers will attend NYCDA in Chicago the weekend of February 19-22. Watch the livestream to support your classmates!
YAGP
Pre-selected MAD City dancers will compete at YAGP in Chicago the weekend of February 5-8.
Winter Break: Closed
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed from December 22 to January 4. Classes resume January 5. Have a wonderful break!
Thanksgiving: Closed
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed November 27 and 28. Classes resume on November 29.
Wear A Costume to Class Week
Dancers can wear a costume to class the week of October 25-31.
Audition for Dance Wisconsin's "The Nutcracker"
Monona Academy of Dance hosts auditions for the pre-professional non-profit, Dance Wisconsin’s, production of The Nutcracker.
Labor Day
Both locations of Monona Academy of Dance will be closed on Labor Day (September 1).
First Day of Classes
The 2025-2026 Academic Year begins at Monona Academy of Dance at both studio locations! We can’t wait to have all the dancers back in the studio!
MAD City Party
The Annual MAD City Dancer party will be held on August 21 from 6-8pm! RSVP via the survey in the team email.
MAD City Dancers: Choreography Week
Dancers that have been accepted to the MAD City Dancers will be in the studio to learn choreography for their upcoming competition season. All dancers are expected to be present. Schedules with exact times will be sent out via email.

Dress Rehearsal (Mandatory)
Dress Rehearsal will take place at the McFarland Performing Arts Center (within McFarland High School) on May 30 starting at 4:30pm. All dancers are required to attend Dress Rehearsal. Specific times you are expected to be there will be sent out in a newsletter via email from the studio.

Picture Day
Dancers will be assigned a day, May 28 or May 29 from 4:00-8:00PM for Picture Day.
NYCDA in Lake Geneva
The MAD City Dancers will compete at NYCDA in Lake Geneva from April 25-27. The Minis, Juniors, and Teens will all compete and take classes over the weekend.
Classes Resume
Holy Cow! Spring Break went by fast and now we’re back to classes! We’ll see you in the studio this week, classes resume March 31.

Classes Resume
Winter Break is over and we are back to classes at our Madison AND Sun Prairie locations. This begins Term 2 billing as well.
Winter Break
No classes will be held from December 23-January 5. Classes will continue on January 6.

No classes will be held on Friday, November 29th due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
