Labor Day
There will be no classes on Monday, September 7. Both studio locations will be closed. Classes resume Tuesday, September 8.
Winter Break
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed for Winter Break from Monday December 21, 2026 until January 3, 2027. Classes will resume on Monday, January 4, 2027 at both studio locations. Need to reach someone at the studio? Office staff may occasionally be in the building, but reach us via email at mononaacademyofdance@gmail.com for the quickest response!
First Day of Term 2
We’re back! We look forward to seeing all the dancers back in the studios again! Classes resume at both studio locations today. Term 2 bills have been sent or will be sent soon. Contact the office at mononaacademyofdance@gmail.com with any questions.
Stars Dance Competition
MAD City Dancers (our competition team) will attend Stars in the Wisconsin Dells in January 2027. Further details to be released as we approach the dates.
NYCDA
MAD City Dancers (our competition team) head to Chicago for NYCDA. Further details to be released as we approach the dates.
YAGP
Select MAD City Dancers head to Chicago for Youth America Grand Prix to compete variations and contemporary solos. Further details to be released as dates approach.
Spring Break
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed for Spring Break the week of March 22 until March 28. No classes will be held at either location. Classes resume on Monday, March 29.
Picture Day
Picture Day is divided into two days on Wednesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 27. Assigned days will be announced as we approach recital season.
Recital 2027
Recital 2027 will take place on June 5th. We will have two different recital times, a morning and afternoon. Times will be announced as we approach recital season.
MAD City Choreography Week
Dancers participating in the 2026-2027 MAD City Choreography Team are required to attend the choreography week to learn competition pieces for their upcoming season. Schedules will be sent out via email.

Dress Rehearsal-MANDATORY
Mandatory dress rehearsal for all Monona Academy of Dance students on May 29. There will be scheduled times for dancers to arrive. Check our RECITAL page for updated schedules and notes on potential parking issues.
No Classes
Both studio location will be closed the week of May 25th-29th. Dress Rehearsal will take place the evening on May 29th at McFarland Performing Arts Center. Check the Recital page for more information about Dress Rehearsal.
Last Week of Classes
This is the last week of classes in the 2025-2026 academic year at Monona Academy of Dance at both locations. The following week will include Dress Rehearsal and both Recitals. For more information on Recital, visit the page.
Picture Day

MAD City Dancer Auditions
Join us for the MAD City Dancer Auditions on May 9 at our Madison location, 2605 S Stoughton Rd! Dancers auditioning are seriously considering joining our competitions team in the 2026-2027 academic year and will be enrolled in classes at Monona Academy of Dance. Times are as follows:
-Ages 7-10: 12:30-1:15pm
-Ages 11-14: 1:15-2:15pm
-Ages 13+: 2:15-3:15pm
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your audition time starts. Audition may consist of ballet, jazz, tap, or contemporary so bring all appropriate footwear . Questions? Email mononaacademyofdance@gmail.com
MAD City Informational Meeting
Do you have a dancer interested in joining the MAD City Dancers in the 2026-2027 school year? Join us on April 18 from 12:00-1:00pm and see if being on our competition team is a good fit for your dancer! We will discuss financials, rough calendar of dates dancers will be expected to be available, a typical class schedule for a MAD City Dancer, and more! Bring any questions you might have! You are more than welcome to have your dancer attend if you would like, please decide what is most appropriate for your family.
Spring Break
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed from March 23-29 for Spring Break. Classes resume on March 30.
NYCDA
All MAD City Dancers will attend NYCDA in Chicago the weekend of February 19-22. Watch the livestream to support your classmates!
YAGP
Pre-selected MAD City dancers will compete at YAGP in Chicago the weekend of February 5-8.
Winter Break: Closed
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed from December 22 to January 4. Classes resume January 5. Have a wonderful break!
Thanksgiving: Closed
Monona Academy of Dance will be closed November 27 and 28. Classes resume on November 29.
Wear A Costume to Class Week
Dancers can wear a costume to class the week of October 25-31.
Audition for Dance Wisconsin's "The Nutcracker"
Monona Academy of Dance hosts auditions for the pre-professional non-profit, Dance Wisconsin’s, production of The Nutcracker.
Labor Day

Dress Rehearsal (Mandatory)
Dress Rehearsal will take place at the McFarland Performing Arts Center (within McFarland High School) on May 30 starting at 4:30pm. All dancers are required to attend Dress Rehearsal. Specific times you are expected to be there will be sent out in a newsletter via email from the studio.
